Why Longboarding?

Nothing beats cruising downhill on a long winding street or road on a Longboard.

Longboarding is fun, satisfying and easy to pick up.

The boards themselves are long, stable and feature large but soft wheels simple to ride and comfortable over long distances.

Longboarding is a fun hobby available to all and even a viable method of commuting. Faster than walking, greener than the bus or driving, less complex than cycling. Longboards are also easier to store. You can take your board and place it under your desk, no finding somewhere to lock up, bike locks or theft anxiety.

All you need is a Longboard, a decent pair of skating shoes, protective equipment (helmet, knee and elbow pads) and somewhere to ride (road or pavement).

For beginners, Longboarding is easier to pick up than Skateboarding as Longboards are designed for smooth turns even at high speeds and have a much higher degree of stability.

Skateboards are better suited for tricks and riding in skateparks. Skateboards are smaller and take longer to learn to control.

Longboarding can be taken up at any age, as long as one is in a reasonable physical condition. Many new Longboarders observe their health, fitness and flexibility increase after becoming a Longboarder.

Is Longboarding Safe?

Longboarding is safe as long as you’re sensible. Don’t ride on roads or ‘busy’ spaces until you have a good amount of experience under your belt and are comfortable riding.

Quiet park paths and empty car parks are good places to practice Longboarding in the UK.

When riding on the road, practice the highway code. When riding on paths, be aware of and respect pedestrians, keep a sensible distance.

Wear the necessary protective gear, even the most experienced of Longboarders can take a tumble. Protective gear will go a long way in preventing injuries.

It’s recommended that you wear a helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads just in case you ever fall or are knocked off your Longboard.
