Double Dropped Longboards combine the features of ‘drop through’ trucks with a ‘drop down’ deck resulting in a very low centre of gravity.
The decks are considerably lower than conventional Drop through and Dropdown Longboards.
The feet sit close to the ground on either side and below the trucks. Therefore, a Double Drop Down is the most stable of all Longboards.
A Double Drop Down is a specialist tool, the number one choice for serious Longboard commuters who cover many miles daily.
The lower deck, the easier it is to push, the further you travel with each push, and the less fatigue build up forms in the legs, essential for long-distance work.
The double Drop remains stable at speeds. Also, they don’t turn as sharp as Drop through or top-mounted decks, but sharp turns are not required for Double Drop Down riding styles, so not an issue.
Double Drop Longboards are also suitable for learning to freeride. They are the easiest of decks to push into slides. They can’t, however, be pushed as far when sliding.
Good to learn Freeriding on, but as you progress in freeriding, you’ll likely opt for a conventional drop-down or drop through and even maybe a top-mounted Longboard if you progress into advanced freeriding at top speeds with extra-long slides.
For now, though, if you want a Double Drop Longboard for commuting or want to get into freeriding, here are five to choose from.
